Nandan Nilekani represents a very positive and not-so-rare-anymore face of India - competent, secure and very much in-touch.
Nilekani on the Daily Show
I'm not sure if it's that times have really changed or if Stewart is just classier than Letterman or if Nilekani is a lot less nails-on-blackboard than Rai, but I could see a marked difference between this interview and the last time a "face of India" went on the the US talk show circuit. If nothing else, this interview was pleasant and respectful. And intelligent. And for that I say thank you and thank god.
And it looks like Imagining India has beaten Shashi Tharoor, Hari Kunzru and Niall Ferguson to the #1 spot when it comes to books-the-Div-will-read. Hopefully that'll happen in a couple of weeks if it does - well, then there'll be a review as well!
